Costa's Hummingbird Male Feeding at Ocotillo Flowers

Costa's Hummingbird is the hummingbird of the desert. It occurs in the Mojave and Sonoran deserts of the southwestern U.S. and northwestern Mexico. The crown and gorget of the male glows iridescent violet when seen in the proper light. Ocotillo flowers are a primary nectar source along with the flowers of chuparosa.
